Regular spray & fake tan for Kim Kardashian

Monday, July 2nd, 2012

Kim Kardashian has admitted to having a spray tan nearly every two weeks.

The ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ star loves to maintain her sun-kissed glow and she is always pleased by the results.

”I have a spray tan every 10 days – I know I do it a lot but I love it. I have a guy called Jimmy Coco come to my house in LA and spray me. I don’t know what fake tan he uses but he’s a great tanner.”

The star also admits that she relies on fake tan, as she regularly stuffers from psoriasis, which is a dry skin condition.

”My psoriasis is flared up right now. It’s really bad and it’s annoying. I’m using Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs which is a wash off tan and is the only thing that works for me as it really covers it up.”

Big Brother Dowling, a little less fake (tan) please!

Thursday, June 21st, 2012

The new series of Big Brother is well and truly underway.  Channel 5, the new broadcaster of the show have planned many major changes for the show.

The first major change is for the lead presenter Brian Dowling to have a slight de-tan.  The Big Brother host admitted that the producers had asked him to tone down the fake tan levels he had been applying and go with a more naturally golden fake tan look.

“They are changing the look this year and it was suggested I could wear jeans. I said I would love to wear jeans…They then said, ‘You looked really brown’. So I have been told to be less Essex, more Chelsea. How that is relevant to the show I don’t know but, yeah, I have to look less brown.”

Perhaps he could have avoided the conversation by coming to The Tan Bar for some advice first!  Don’t make the same mistake, take a look at our fake tan products and get that amazing golden glow you are looking for.

UTan launched by Michelle Mone

Thursday, May 31st, 2012

A million pounds later and three long years in the making, Michelle Mone OBE has launched what she considers the perfect fake tan.

The UTan range was unveiled at Selfridges in London, with the assistance of four beautiful bikini models – of course wearing UTan.

The range available includes a selection of lotions and mousses in the shades from Miami beach to Marbella Gold.

UTan has been launched under the Ultimo lingerie company, owned by Mone.

Mone said:

“I talked to all the Ultimo models about tanning – Mel B, Kelly Book, Sara Harding, all the models we’ve worked with over the years – and they told me what they loved about self-tan products, and what they hated.

I took it all on board and created a dream product in my mind – then set about making it. Three years later and a million pounds, and I think I’ve got it,’ she says. ‘UTan ticks every box on my wish list…”

The UTan range is currently made entirely in Britain, which Mone says was something of great pride for the brand, with dozens of jobs being created in this country.

Top three fake tan products for summer 2012

Sunday, April 15th, 2012

Last time we looked at some of our top tips when using fake tan products, however this week we are looking at three of our favourite products to help give you that perfect bronzed glow during summer 2012.

He-Shi Face & Body Tanning Gel

The light moisturising gel is easy to apply and very gentle on the skin.  You can see where it goes, so it removes the risk of streaks and patchiness and gives an instant flawless glow, that will be dried within minutes of applying.  Who does this suit?  It is perfect for fair skinned girls (and guys), but is also ideal for those you want to build a tan and want to add more colour.

St Tropez – Self Tan Mousse

The St Tropez range is designed to give a more dark and intense colour.  It is easy to apply and the mousse contains innotive melanin technology that ensures your tan is tailored to your individual skin tone.  A streak-free colour that evens out the skin tone and lasts much longer is provided through extra skin conditioners and protective ingredients.

Fake Bake – 60 Minute Self Tan Liquid

Fake Bake’s latest self-tanning creation gives a beautiful natural look in just 60 minutes.  It is easy to apply and gets to work as soon as it makes contact with the skin.  The unique product just keeps getting darker, so it is up to you how dark you want to be! Just leave it working for an additional 60 minutes (up to 3 hours), then rinse off to reveal the tan!  It does not clog the pores up and has a fast drying formula!

Now we have left the winter behind, it is time to put the life back into your skin!

Summer is coming! Fake tan tips are here!

Sunday, April 8th, 2012

It is time to rejoice as summer is fast approaching!  Those dark, cold days are leaving us behind and we have had a taste of summer in recent weeks.

We thought we would give you a few of our top fake tan tips, while you are deciding whether to go with Fake Bake, He Shi or another of our fantastic fake tan brands!

Before you apply fake tan, make sure you allow 48 hours after waxing and at least 24 hours after shaving.  Make sure you exfoliate!  This ensures any dead skin is removed and creates a nice smooth base to apply on.

Also, apply moisturiser to your hands, feet, elbows and any other dry areas and of course by using a thick moisturiser after applying will prolong the results!

It is vitally important to “layer”, or you will not achieve a natural-looking tan.  It is important to apply fake tan, just like you would a real tan – by building up over time and not necessarily looking for an instant result.

You should leave your new tan for up to 12 hours before showering, and for the best results sleep on it first!  However, if you just want a light glow then shower after around 4-5 hours.

This will bring you that perfect fake tan golden glow that you are looking for – enjoy the summer!

Fake Tan boom thanks to Victoria Beckham

Saturday, March 31st, 2012

When looking back over the last 15 years of how the fake tan industry has boomed, it is clear that one star shines above all:  Victoria Beckham started the 90s fake tan craze, according to some bronzing experts.

Nichola Joss has worked with some major stars in her time, including Kate Moss and Elle Macpherson and recalls that fake tan became huge business in the 90s when “Posh” bought the fake tan world to women around the globe, showing them that permanently golden skin was possible!

It was at this time, that the fake tan market started to boom, when St Tropez was first launched in the early 90s.  The natural looking and lack of odour were key reasons for the product to become so popular.

The product became a consumer option in 1995, and this is the point, with the aid of Victoria Beckham that the fake tan market really took off.

The Tan Bar is still going strong today, and we can provide you with all the most popular brands and products, such as Fake Bake, St Tropez and Super Million Hair – so check out our low prices and award winning customer service today!

Fake Bake News: Get the perfect bronzed look with fake tan

Wednesday, February 29th, 2012

Welcome to the latest blog from the Tan Bar. Fake Bake, Xen-Tan and Super Million Hair specialists.

The British Association of Dermatologists have explained that fake tan products is a much better way to achieve that beautiful tan, then compared to exposing the skin to UV rays.

The fake tan products such as Fake Bake and Xen-Tan are particularly advisable for those with a pale complexion as it boosts skin tone, avoiding burns and damage caused by the sun’s rays.

“Self-tanning products and spray tans are readily available, safe for your skin, effective, and increasingly easy to use, and are therefore the ideal alternative to sunbathing or sunbeds…”

The health recommendation is also advisable for those fear of ageing too, as the first places that wrinkles appear are generally on the face, neck and backs of hands – which are generally where we receive most sun exposure and damage over our lifetime.

By taking on a “sun-tan diet” of fake tan products, you can not only avoid premature wrinkles, but protect yourself from damaging UV rays.

It has been announced that sunbed companies will now face fines of up to £20,000 if they allow under-18s to use the harmful UV sunbeds.

Winter is well and truly moving away now, so get your fake tan topped up at the Tan Bar, ready for the summer to begin!
